Welcome to Karma Llama Yoga Community, my name is Julie and together with my fellow Yogis we have established this space to help you find your Yoga. You are unique there is not another person on the planet the same as you. Your yoga practice is as unique as you. What we need from our yoga practice changes from day to day. Join us as we learn to listen and observe the subtle cues of our mind, body and soul exploring and discovering what energises, nourishes and relaxes us. How our body responds to movement and shapes and how the mind and breath supports our body.
Discover your yoga practice and how what you learn on the mat can be applied in every area of your life.
Join us each week for live classes, to help you deepen and develop your practice. Recordings of classes available if you can't make the scheduled day or time, recordings available to access up to 7 days from original class timing.
Yoga unites the mind, body, and soul in a way that eases tension, reduces inflammation, and promotes health and well being. Regular practice will help you explore and develop your poses, improve posture, and improve your breathing and outlook on life.
Yoga is a great way to improve your endurance in other physical activities. After a run, or heavy workout, yoga will help your body relax while stretching, strengthening, and lengthening the muscles you were just working on.
Yoga not only helps improve your body, but also helps with mindfulness and meditation. It is important to take a break from daily life in order to focus on yourself and get clarity. Focusing on your breath during practice is key to staying in tune with your mind and body.

Hi Everyone!
My name is Julie and the founder of Karma Llama Yoga.
I started practicing yoga over 20 years ago in a church hall with my mum (it was her idea to go!) in our home town in the North East of England. Little did I realise then how that one class would shape my future path.
Moving forward 17 years and at the age of 40 I found myself living in a new country the Sultanate of Oman a little different from my home town of Scunthorpe! Looking for ways to fill my time one yoga class a week soon grew and developed into what my husband may refer to as an obsession... Being so geographically close to India it was only ever going to be a matter of time before I found myself in Rishikesh. Here I had a lightbulb moment! Perhaps I could train to be a yoga teacher combining my obsession (I prefer passion) of yoga with a desire to share what had helped and benefited me for so many years.
I gained my Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) in January 2018 since then the learning has just kept on coming through courses, reading and the most important type of learning from those who attend my classes every week. Each and everyone inspires me to learn and to develop as a person and a teacher so I can share and create innovative classes and an interesting, informative and positive yoga experience.
"Julie is such a calm presence and a thoughtful yoga instructor. My husband and I have been taking her yin yoga classes for over 2 years and have reaped the benefits; more body awareness and mindfulness, better breathing, and greater peace in our day to day lives. Julie gently takes students through her sessions with a focus on breathing, which is calming, and then a creative flow of yoga shapes to bring us in union with our bodies. I cannot recommend her teaching highly enough" - Laura & Tom
"My first class with Julie was unforgettable. A 1.5 hr yin sequence of poses was carefully and mindfully planned. Her guidance and care are this Julie "thing" that makes her sessions an experience for body and mind. Each pose is explained at a physical and energetic level and her calm and encouraging words motivate everyone in the room and even on digital platform. Julie's expertise, dedication and professionalism have helped me and others to not only practice yoga but to also explore body sensations and mental states. I am grateful that my path and Julie's have crossed and I am determined to continue my practice with her" - Aline
"I had been practising yoga for a few years but after a hip operation I was wary of taking up my practice again. Julie's classes gave me the possibilities to explore with greater confidence my own practice, my own way of moving and thinking. I love her classes which are set in a safe and profession environment. Julie's enthusiasm, sense of fun, wealth of knowledge and her ability to adapt different learning styles makes her a truly inspirational teacher.'' - Annamaria
''Having practised yoga for a few years, I joined Julie for my first taste of Yin at a charity fundraiser practice. Yin intrigued me & fulfilled both a new challenging flex & stretch workout along with some quiet reflection time.
The pandemic lockdown changed my practice routine & Julie's online classes enhanced my learning & appreciation of the whole yoga experience. I have advanced in my practice from new moon/full moon yin to yinyasa, chakra work, grounding, releasing and letting go, breath work and meditation. Every practice brings advancement, learning, understanding & gives an opportunity to take time out for oneself. Julie's knowledge of her craft, the physiology & the strive for mental clarity & mindfulness is a credit to her and a pure delight to experience. Highly recommended. Give it a try...you deserve it!" - Bev
"I have been practicing yin yoga regularly with Julie for 2 years now and I'm delighted she now has her own website as this means I can take her classes anywhere I am in the world. Doing Julie's Yin has been an education on not only the postures but the whole philosophy. I'm so impressed and generally moved by how she changes the mood of the practice to suit the present moment which to me works on much more than the physical. I love her soft approach and is always positive no matter what, which as we know has been a challenging year. She is so well read in her subject and for this you feel absolutely confident in placing your trust in her teaching. But the most important part for me is that I'm moving forward both physically and mentally, thanks a million Julie for sharing this gift" - Angie
"Julie has such warm and giving energy and makes you feel so special. You leave each class feeling rested and revitalised. Julie has even managed to do this during virtual classes, which has been a gift during 2020. One of my favourite things that Julie repeats through her sessions is "take what you need today". Julie encourages us to listen to our bodies and move them in a safe and supported way. I always cry at the end of a great yin class...I've cried a lot with Julie" - Robyn
